Sarah Close, MS, LPC
Sarah has always been an enthusiastic observer/participant in life’s unfolding. She believes in the healing power of slowing down, staying curious, and staying related, and she brings these elements heartfully into her therapy practice. She received her B.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Arizona and her M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Prescott College. Clinically, Sarah has experience working with children, families, adults, and couples in schools, community counseling centers, group practices, and addiction treatment facilities. She is passionate about working with adults of all ages grappling with life transitions, addiction, relationship and family challenges, and the impact of trauma across the lifespan. She operates from a Relational, Trauma-Informed approach and enjoys integrating wisdom from the Neuro-Affective Relational Model (NARM) and Internal Family Systems Therapy. Sarah gently aims to shift the focus of mental health care from the struggles and ‘problems’ we all face to the resiliency and wisdom inherent in seeking help. Sarah has been told that her style is empathetic, intuitive, and insight-building. She has been praised for her grounded presence and humble approach to healing that does not exclude her from the therapeutic relationship. She feels honored to be a part of her clients’ brave journeys back home to themselves. Sarah comes to Broken Top Counseling with professional experience teaching, writing, and working in business. She is proud to bring over five years of experience in the fast-paced world of mental health tech startups, where she has advocated for progress without risking quality in the growing mental health field. Having grown up in the Arizona desert, Sarah feels at home among the juniper and ponderosa in central Oregon. She appreciates how nature is integral to the community here and spends as much time cross-country skiing, hiking, and backpacking as possible. She also feels at home within the vibrant and inspiring community of healers here at Broken Top Counseling, and she looks forward to meeting you!
