James Nippert, LMFT

James is a highly experienced and licensed Family therapist in Oregon with over 20 years of expertise in Mental Health. He is recognized as a specialist in Trauma and attachment work supporting individuals and families experiencing distress. James’s  therapeutic approach is anchored in Emotionally focused Family therapy, and Narrative Therapy and he is trained and experienced in utilizing multiple modalities in addition to traditional therapy within the course of treatment including Heartmath, Brainspotting, TCTSY (Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga) to accelerate growth, stabilize the nervous system and support relational healing.

Furthermore, James’s academic background includes an undergraduate degree in psychology and experiential education from The Appalachian State University and earned a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Appalachian State University as well.  James worked in residential treatment settings, wilderness therapeutic treatment settings, and private practice. And is passionate both on supporting healing and in the support development training of newer clinician with learning about therapeutic intervention.

 James’ focus on Trauma has led him to understand how important safety is our health and the health of our relationships, and he works relentlessly to push for the creation and the ability to sustain durability of health healing and safety for his clients. James has a deep appreciation for the lessons that emotions teach us and understands that to flee emotions courts emotional distress and so focuses on supporting his clients through their emotions rather than away from them.
